Below is an introduction into the events held at Royal Richmond each year - for exact dates of events being held this year, please see the club calendar. For events in the Richmond area, please see the away calendar.

January

Haggis Shoot 2007

In January, normally the last Sunday, we celebrate Robbie Burns with our traditional haggis shoot. We start by having a three-course meal, together with a tot of whisky, and then we have special fun targets to shoot at for traditional prizes.

February

In February, either the third or fourth Sunday, we hold a wand shoot. The target is a long strip, about 3” wide by 6’ high which is shot at from various distances.

March

In March, the last Sunday, we hold a traditional round, either Western or National.

April

Pagoda Shoot 2007

In April, we host our annual Pagoda Shoot (Open British Record Status), at which the majority of members are required to help, as members are unable to shoot. We start the season mid-April with our opening shoot, when we have a buffet lunch and a traditional glass of wine.

July

In July we hold our Victorian Shoot, which is for long bows only and after the round is finished everybody has a traditional Victorian tea. Medals are also presented to the winners.

August

In August we generally have at least one fun shoot with a barbecue lunch.

September

In September the Club championships are held and the last Wednesday session is followed by our AGM held in the main pavilion. Snacks and drinks are provided.

October

In October the first Wednesday starts our indoor shooting session and generally on the last Sunday we have our Halloween shoot, which includes traditional fare and prizes.

November

In November we have a special round called the King’s Walk, which is a competition held between Brent Valley Archers and Royal Richmond. There is a team trophy and individual medals. This is a special shoot devised by Royal Richmond.

December

In December we have our annual Mince Pie Shoot with mulled wine, which is a field shoot and we have the opportunity to shoot at various targets, not just standard bosses, and is held on the last Sunday before Christmas.

Food for the above events is supplied by the club and offers of help are always welcome.
